Google Messages

Google Messages is a text messaging app developed by Google for Android and Wear OS, enabling the sending of SMS and rich messages via the RCS standard. Initially integrated into Android in 2009, it became a standalone app in 2014. In September 2026, Google is rolling out new features such as AI-generated media identification and a fix for a bug causing random sending of old SMS messages.
