TCL debuts first NxtPaper OLED displays on P80 Ultra and Pro

TCL achieves a milestone by combining its NxtPaper technology with AMOLED screens on the P80 Ultra and P80 Pro smartphones. These models offer more comfortable reading while retaining the vibrant colors and deep contrasts of OLED.

A groundbreaking display: NxtPaper meets OLED

Until now, TCL’s NxtPaper screens were based on IPS LCD panels. With the P80 Ultra and P80 Pro, the brand introduces a world first: a 6.83-inch AMOLED display (1.5K resolution, 120 Hz) equipped with NxtPaper technology. This reduces glare, limits blue light exposure (2.9% according to TCL), and improves visual comfort, even outdoors or with polarized sunglasses, thanks to circular polarization.

A dedicated physical button allows switching between multiple modes: Paper (softened rendering for reading), Max Ink (monochrome, energy-saving), or classic display. The Max Ink mode promises up to 7 days of battery life for intensive reading, by disabling non-essential notifications.

High-end smartphones, but not just that

The P80 Ultra positions itself as the flagship of the range. It features a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Elite chip, 8 GB of RAM, up to 512 GB of storage, and a 5,800 mAh battery with 45 W fast charging. On the camera side, it offers a triple sensor: 50 MP (main, stabilized), 50 MP (periscope telephoto 3x, stabilized), and 8 MP (ultra-wide), complemented by a 32 MP front camera.

The P80 Pro retains the NxtPaper AMOLED display, the same chip, battery, and charging, but lacks the telephoto lens. It keeps a 50 MP main sensor and an 8 MP ultra-wide sensor. The P80, more accessible, drops NxtPaper technology and the dedicated button but keeps a 1.5K 120 Hz AMOLED display. It uses a Dimensity 7300 Elite chip and a 5,000 mAh battery, with a thickness of 7.5 mm.

Availability and pricing

The P80 range has been available in France since September 3, 2026. Prices start at €399.99 for the P80 (256 GB), €449.99 for the P80 Pro (256 GB), and €549.99 for the P80 Ultra (256 GB), with a 512 GB version at €599.99. All three models are water and dust resistant (IP68) and include AI features like real-time translation or circle-to-search.
