Dawn of War 4 delayed to December 3: King Art fine-tunes its RTS

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 will not release on September 17 as planned. King Art Games’ real-time strategy game is now expected on December 3, with early access starting November 30 for Commander Edition owners.

A delay to avoid September’s crowded schedule and improve the game

The two-and-a-half-month delay allows Dawn of War 4 to avoid an especially busy September. Titles expected that month include Marvel’s Wolverine, The Blood of Dawnwalker, Control Resonant, Silent Hill Townfall, and Onimusha Way of the Sword. A period when publishers aim to beat the November release of GTA 6.

King Art Games justifies the delay by wanting to “fine-tune the experience before launch.” In a statement, the studio specifies that the extra time will be dedicated to performance optimization, bug fixes, gameplay polishing, and integrating feedback from recent community tests.

Post-launch roadmap pushed back to 2027

The delay directly impacts the schedule for free updates and expansions. The updated roadmap states that the “Crusade” mode and the first card pack will only be available in early 2027. Next will be:

• A second card pack and the “Lord Ahmnok Last Stand” crusade in early spring 2027
• A third card pack and the mission editor, followed by a fourth card pack in early summer 2027
• The “Guzcutta’s Last Stand” crusade alongside the fourth card pack

Two paid expansions are also planned: the Blood Ravens’ story prologue in spring 2027, and the “Aftermath” campaign expansion, featuring a new faction, in summer 2027.
