Xbox turns 25 with a limited-edition $899 console and retro accessories

Microsoft opens pre-orders for the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition, a translucent green console inspired by the original model, priced at 899 $ and bundled with Halo: Campaign Evolved. A range of accessories from Razer, 8BitDo, or Backbone complements the lineup, with some items available today.

A numbered console and a cult game as a bonus

The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition celebrates the brand’s 25th anniversary with a translucent green design, evoking the original Xbox from 2001. Each unit features a unique engraved number and includes a digital copy of Halo: Campaign Evolved, a modernized remake of the historic campaign from Halo: Combat Evolved.

Pre-orders began on August 26 for fans selected via email. Starting August 27 at 7 AM PT, the console will be available to the general public on the official Xbox website and through partner retailers, while supplies last. Release is set for November 13, 2026, at a suggested retail price of $899.99 (prices may vary by region).

Accessories to extend the tribute

The Designed for Xbox 25th Anniversary collection extends to a series of accessories, all inspired by the translucent green aesthetic of the first Xbox. Razer notably offers:

• The wireless mouse Basilisk V3 Pro 35K, featuring a 35K optical sensor and 140-hour battery life.
• The mechanical keyboard BlackWidow V4 75%, compact and customizable, with a dedicated key to launch the Xbox Game Bar.

Other brands join the celebration: 8BitDo releases a special-edition Xbox controller charging station, Backbone offers a collector’s version of its mobile controller with three retro colorways (including a “Crystal Clear” variant), and PowerA launches a crossbody bag for Xbox Ally. GameSir rounds out the lineup with a mobile controller X5 Lite certified for Xbox and Apple MFi.

The X25 controller on its own

The Xbox X25 Special Edition controller, sold separately, adopts the same translucent green design and nostalgic details. It has been available for pre-order since August 26, with a release date set for October 20, 2026, priced at $79.

This limited collection banks on nostalgia and exclusivity, with numbered or blind-boxed products. Microsoft and its partners target both collectors and gamers looking for gear that harks back to Xbox’s early days.
